About Jesse Trejo

Artist Jose Trejo, known as "Jesse" by his friends, has worked for George Coulam since 1998. He began his career constructing colorful buildings and 16th-century-themed venues inside the New Market Village at the Texas Renaissance Festival. Recognizing Jesse's talents, Coulam recruited him to the Stargate Manor Arboretum, where Jesse evolved from a construction worker to a master artist, responsible for bringing Coulam's artistic visions to life.

Over the course of 18 years and without any formal art education, Jesse worked under Coulam's tutelage to become skilled in design, masonry, carpentry, welding, and now quilt making. Jesse's contributions to the Stargate Manor Arboretum include iconic art venues leading up to the Manor, as well as the stunning Obelisk Collection located in front of Coulam's home. He has also overseen the design and construction of a modern art venue, a grotto template overlooking a serene 6-acre lake for meditation, and Coulam's personal mausoleum.

Jesse works with an array of mediums on any given project and is best known for transforming ordinary materials like concrete to appear as ceramic or alabaster. His current project is the design and construction of a cathedral that has been in progress for a year and a half.

The open cathedral, located across from Stargate Manor, is reminiscent of Gothic architecture, with colorful fresco artwork adorning the interior walls and ceilings. Beautiful marble and high regalia adorn the impressive space. Jesse first drew the design, then created a scale model.

Inside his massive workshop are scale drawings of past projects and works in progress, as well as a range of materials with which to work. Jesse, who was born in Dolores Hidalgo Guanajuato, Mexico, humbly agrees that his evolution as an artist has been rewarding. He credits Coulam for the opportunity to grow as an artist, explore his creativity, and sharpen his skills.

Jesse's humble yet hardworking approach to his art makes him an invaluable asset to Stargate. With his collaborative approach to fulfilling Coulam's visions, Stargate Manor Arboretum will fulfill its destiny as a wondrous art museum for people of all ages who visit from near and far across the world.
